Much calmer environment than any dealer's service department. There is no blaring TV in the waiting room and the people who work at Sallas in KC MO do not seem pressured to sell you more than what you came in for. I came in for an oil change with the 25% off special and I requested the complimentary 10-point inspection, and after I mentioned that I had been told a noise that I had been hearing was the drive train, they had an experienced technician drive my truck and provide a diagnosis. I noticed through the window in the door to the service department that the truck was up on the rack for a while and, after the oil change and inspection, when the service advisor met with me before I paid I was shown photos of the truck and the specific issues under the truck that needed addressing. I could see that a bracket that supported the exhaust system was rusted and beginning to break, and I could see that a tie rod needed to be replaced, as well as the condition of other parts that might need to be replaced because of the age of the vehicle. The write-up of the work requested and the resulting findings was clear and complete and items needing attention were prioritized according to safety, repair, or maintenance importance. The service advisor told me specifically which items would not pass the state vehicle inspection, and the paperwork that I was presented with included cost estimates for issues that might need to be addressed for safety. An email that I received after the service appointment included a link with photos that documented the items detailed on the paperwork that I received from the service advisor. My impression is that the people who work here have their minds on the work that needs to be done and on seeing their customers as real people and not just part of the equation for keeping their jobs or getting a good review or whatever the people working at the dealerships where I have gone for service are contending with. Much better experience than at the dealer's.
