The session was full of very helpful information from the do's and dont's of oil changes to buying new/used cars. As a woman, it can be so intimidating when working with car dealerships or automotive garages and the one area the Sallas Auto Repair strives on is being fair to the customer and explaining in "simple" terms what is going on with the car. "I would be remiss if I did not express just how pleased I am with the services Sallas Auto Repair. I recently paid a visit to have my car serviced/looked over "for a road trip" and Barry Degges--the Service Manager in the Kansas City location--went the "extra mile". He noticed that my tags were six months expired (saved me a possible ticket since I was due to travel) and it doesn't end there...I questioned the date and he journeyed an additional mile by volunteering to look in my glove compartment to confirm the date. And sure enough, they were expired. He suggested an inspection...since it was on a Wednesday I was able to get my tags renewed with no late fees (turned out it was a D.O.R. error), went back to tell Barry the good news and he amazed me more by volunteering to put the plates on my car. Now, this may be small to you, but this is big to me because not only do these guys notice the prominant things regarding our car, they notice and care about the small things. I was so excited that when I arrived to Bible Study, I gave the referral ticket to one of the gals at church (yes, that very same evening) and I plan to include a write-up in my next Newsletter. Thanks guys!"

"Most places do competent work. But what happens when a repair goes wrong? Through no fault on the part of Sallas, a clutch slave cylinder went bad a few months after being replaced. Although this was a very puzzling and time-consuming diagnosis (because the problem was intermittent), and labor-intensive correction, they replaced the part without charge to me. This is where character and ethics are truly demonstrated, and they absolutely came through for me. Why would anyone go anywhere else?"

"I was in KC on business, and realized at 4pm on a Friday that I was having serious difficulty turning my steering wheel. I was scared to drive home and possibly harm my car more. I called two other mechanics and they gave me the runaround and refused to quote me prices or get me in that late in the day. I called Sallas after finding their number in the phone book and John listened about my problem, and told me to just bring it in and he would tell me if it was safe to drive home. I brought it in and he took the time to look at it (at 4pm on a FRIDAY!!) and immediately identified the problem as a power steering fluid leak. John promptly refilled my fluid, and also put in some extra fluid that would help stop the leak. The noise was fixed, and when I went to pay, John said that it was only something minor, and there was no charge! As somebody with no prior business at there shop, the folks at Sallas got me in at 4pm on a Friday, and fixed my car in ten minutes, and didn't even charge me for their time or supplies. Simply put, the best service I have ever had an auto shop, and possibly the best service I have had in any business in my life. Thanks John, you rock!"

"My car had been having trouble for a month and I was nervous to take it in somewhere and get a huge bill and not really fix the issue. I had heard great things about Sallas from two of my friends and decided to give them a try. Being able to borrow a car from them was something that I was going to have to have and they provided that service. I went in and Jon and helped me and he was so nice, they took my car in the morning and he called me later that after noon with a status update. How nice! The next day they finally thought they had one diagonis and told me the cost. But what was nice is he told me that it may not fix the whole problem but it was were we needed to start. I liked that honesty. Knowing nothing about cars, I asked if my stepdad could call him. He said Of course and reexplained everything to him. We went ahead got it fixed and it did fix all of our problem!! The whole process was quick and painless! They are a great team to work with. I think even my stepdad is going to now start using them he was so impressed!! "

"John and Sallas Auto saved us! Just recently my husband had a business trip to KC, and me and the kids thought we would tagalong (from St. Louis, MO) for some fun. Unfortunately our car broke down, about a half a mile from Jack Stacks BBQ. So instead of KC BBQ we had tow trucks, car rentals, etc in our future. So, 4 hours from home we received a recommendation to go to Sallas. The next morning we called them and they were booked up and didn't know if they could fit us in. We explained our situation and John and his crew worked really hard to get our car in and fixed the same day. We really appreciated it and celebrated by finally making it to Jack Stacks. They take the time to explain things and provide "inside" information to help me make repair decisions. Their website is phenomenal, and I like the ability to schedule appointments and ask questions via the website. For example, I asked a question via the website and received a call within minutes from Eric Atchley to answer my question and then schedule an appointment. The only negative thing about Sallas Overland Park, KS location is that they are so busy (I wonder why?!), appointments are scheduled several days in advance."
